Our guest is Nancy Cooke De Herrera.  In her autobiography "Beyond Gurus" (the paperback version is called "All You Need Is Love")  http://www.amazon.com/All-You-Need-Love-Spirituality/dp/1588720411  she describes a life of subtle defiance in order to lead a life of adventure.
The loss of her soulmate was the impetus for a lifelong spiritual journey, in which she served as the right hand person to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the sixties and became one of the first U.S. meditation teachers. She shares stories from her days in Rishikesh at the ashram where she was liason to John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and other stars.
Her meditation students included Greta Garbo, heiress Doris Duke, Madonna, Sheryl Crow and many others.
She has met more yogi's, guru's, sadhu's and holy men than most men or women on the planet. As one friend stated "Dining with Nancy is like a visit to the United Nations".
Join us as she shares her stories, and what meditation has meant to her life and her spiritual quest. You won't want to miss this amazing interview!

Interview with Dr. Andrew Kirkendall, associate professor of history at A&M. He is the author of a new book “Paulo Freire and the Cold War Politics of Literacy”.

Paulo Freire, born in 1921, was a native of Brazil’s impoverished northeast. He later developed adult literacy training techniques that involved consciousness-raising, encouraging peasants to see themselves as active citizens. Later his work, and political pressures, led to Freire’s brief imprisonment, and then to more than a decade and a half in exile. His pioneering life and work remain influential today.

In this interview, we talk to Dr. Kirkendall about his research on Paulo Freire, and the evolution of the Left in Latin America in the 60s and today.
